2018 "From Bach to Beijing to Broadway" Concert

From Bach to Beijing to Broadway presented a dynamic musical journey across centuries, cultures, and genres at Toronto’s Koerner Hall. Led by violinist and Artistic Director Angel Wang, the concert brought together an outstanding ensemble of musicians for an imaginative program connecting the traditions of European classical music, Chinese repertoire, and the world of Broadway.

 

Beginning with the timeless elegance of Bach, the program travelled east to Beijing through music inspired by Chinese culture before arriving on the stages of Broadway. Highlights included selections from The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, and George Gershwin’s Summertime, offering audiences a vibrant blend of classical sophistication, theatrical drama, and contemporary energy.

 

Created with months of preparation and artistic collaboration, From Bach to Beijing to Broadway reflected Angel Wang’s vision of bringing diverse musical traditions together and creating new connections between cultures through live performance.
