Winter Waltz marked a joyful return to live performance at Toronto’s Koerner Hall, bringing audiences together through an elegant celebration of music from East and West. Led by violinist and Artistic Director Angel Wang with the CCSA Orchestra and conductor Claudio Vena, the concert offered a richly varied journey across cultures, styles, and seasons.

 

The program featured beloved Chinese works including the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, Galloping Horses, and Jasmine Flower, alongside Western classics by Vivaldi, Johann Strauss II, Tchaikovsky, and other celebrated composers. From the lyricism of Butterfly Lovers to the brilliance of Vivaldi’s Winter and the elegance of Viennese waltzes, the evening moved seamlessly between reflection, passion, and celebration.

 

Presented as audiences were returning to concert halls following the pandemic, Winter Waltz carried a special spirit of renewal and hope. Through its blend of Chinese melodies, European classics, vocal performance, and dance, the concert reflected Angel Wang’s continuing artistic vision of bringing cultures together through music and creating shared experiences that transcend borders.
