2019 Angel’s Musical Journey – Beijing
May 11, 2019 | Beijing Concert Hall, Beijing
Angel’s Musical Journey – Beijing marked an important international appearance for the CCSA Orchestra, which was invited to perform at the 19th Meet in Beijing International Arts Festival. Led by violinist and Artistic Director Angel Wang with conductor Claudio Vena, the concert brought Canadian musicians to the stage of Beijing Concert Hall for an evening celebrating musical exchange between East and West.
The program travelled across centuries, cultures, and musical styles, featuring works such as the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, Czardas, Romeo and Juliet, The Phantom of the Opera, and Spring in Xinjiang, alongside specially arranged Chinese favourites including My Motherland. From European classical traditions and Broadway melodies to Chinese music and Latin-inspired rhythms, the concert offered Beijing audiences a vivid cross-cultural musical journey.
Presented as part of one of China’s major international arts festivals, the performance reflected Angel Wang’s continuing artistic vision of building cultural connections through music and bringing Chinese and Western traditions together on the international stage.
